HOUSE AND GARDEN (BOOK)

The book House and Garden offers a multi-layered perspective on the former sculptor’s studio and its adjoining magical garden. It traces the history of the site through the lenses of architecture, urban development, artistic production, and everyday life in the studio and garden. In addition to scholarly essays, the book includes interviews with individuals whose lives and work are closely intertwined with Kafkárna—ranging from artists and gardeners to theorists and neighbors.
The publication also explores the current direction of the UMPRUM Centre for Art and Ecology, which is now based at Kafkárna. It delves into themes such as degrowth, ecofeminism, and community-making. The professional and artistic texts, including visual essays, are contributed by authors and artists with whom Kafkárna has long-term collaborations, or whose work serves as an important source of inspiration—forming a mosaic of approaches, ideas, and potential ways forward.
